Basic secrets to speed up your computer
Having a faster computer has very little to do with
how fast your internet experience is. Most of the time, you can imply adjust your computer so it
loads pages faster by cleaning the crap that is downloaded into it or by having a better internet
provider who doesn't clog up their computer systems.
* Year 2007 updates:
The fasters way to speed up your computer is by removing Programs that use up a
lot of energy from your computers. The worst energy hogs are Norton Anitvirus
programs and Mcafee antivirus programs.
Be very careful when You uninstall them.
You can replace them with AVG antivirus and other Free securty software you can
get off the internet.
Then stop using Internet Explorer and Install Firefox as a Web browser and you
will be safe from most viruses.
And just buy or download a free program that blocks Spyware and other just a
good program is called "Spyware blaster.
The rest of this page is VERY
Old but it may be interesting for some people. Oh and Most people don't need a
new computer to enjoy the internet ... just don't clutter it with too much junk.
Move your excessive files to an external hard rive if you can afford it.
Too many photos, songs and videos on a PC can slow it down.
And if you have Widows XP, You
need to disable automatic updates because that only slows your computer down and
may disable some of your good programs. I've heard Many Many people say that
after they downloaded an update or patch ... their computer developed a bunch of
problems or programs stopped working.
How to disable it? Go start button then to control panel and then go to security
center and disable auto updates.

Why do pages take long to load?
Most of the time it's badly designed pages but if you
have a cluttered system you will have to wait even longer. First you need to set your
1. A faster Modem: 33.6k, 56k, Cable, DSL or other.
2. A high quality phone line.
3. The appropriate connection to a good ISP.
4. Have great hardware. RAM (memory), etc.
5. A efficient and clean browser.
6. Use the "Stop" button on browser.
7. Avoid over crowding.
8. Close unnecessary windows.
9. Add security software.
10. Clear up system bugs.
Remember: Most of the time, download speed
depends on how well and efficiently a web site is created by a web site designer. There are many
Websites that haven't organized their site to download quickly or they have content that just takes
a long to load.
1. A good modem
Modems for home users are usually either dial up, cable or DSL. You can choose from a few
different modems to connect to the internet. If you just want to check email and browse the internet
a 56k dial up modem is fine. But if you want to play games, download movies or music you will do
best with a cable modem or DSL because a 56k modem will take about an hour to download something
that only take a few seconds with a cable or DSL modem.
Dial up is divided into: 22k, 33k or 56k
Cable is usually 100k to 400k
DSL is usually 100k to 500k
2. Have a high quality phone line
If you live in a very old building with inefficient phone lines this can slow you down a lot.
3. A great provider and good connection
A good ISP (Internet Service Provider) will make your internet experience a great one. If you have
an ISP that is cluttered, crowded or disconnects you often you need to find a new one. You don't
even need to install new software to get connected to the web (most companies make you install it
just to track you or remind you to stay with them).
4. Great processors, hardware and software
Processors are the little chips that translate all the signals in the internet into pictures, text,
sounds, images etc. You can have a great modem but if you can't process the info quickly your you
will be waiting a while. RAM is the "Memory in your computer and you also need that to speed up
your computer (RAM translates information in your computer). A good hard drive will keep your system
running well. Make sure its not over crowded. There's a lot of internet software that can speed up
your internet experience, too but be careful because some of it can be dangerous. If you want to get
safe stuff I recommend that you check out "PCworld.com".
5. A clean and efficient browser
Adding stuff to your browser (specially if its animated) usually always slows down your internet
connections because it uses up the energy that your computer would regularly be using to speed up
your connections. Stop using internet Explorer and download a program called
"Firefox" to surf the internet.
6. Don't over crowd (know your limits)
Installing too many programs or games on your system will also slow down your internet speed. If
your system can't handle the amount of energy your extra programs use you'll have speed problems.
Your RAM (memory) might be full or over crowded so make sure your system is not full. Never clutter
your hard drive or system with things that you don't need.
7. Know your browser, Use "STOP" &
" Refresh"
Use the stop button on your browser when ever it takes too long for pages to load and press refresh.
If that website still takes too long to load after reloading that means that the site is just slow
and wasn't created efficiently. The "Stop" button is essential because it stops all the
loading and gives you a chance to make a more efficient connection. When connecting to you
Internet provider you can do the same because sometimes the connection can be a bad one. Simply sign
off and sign in again.
8. Don't have many windows open
Having too many windows open at the same time will really slow you down because you computer is
constantly trying to read what you're doing to better adapt to you. If you have too many
windows open your window will be wasting energy on reading those windows and not on speeding up your
internet experience.
9. Protection and precautions to avoid clutter
Add security software to your computer. Make sure to have a firewall, virus protection, Trojan
and worm protection and software that will protect your computer. You can also add cookie
managers/removers to keep all those unnecessary cookies from clogging up your system. Security
systems are the "Locks" to the many doors of your computer. Make sure your system isn't
over crowded with "Bad Cookies" because though will slow you down.
10. Clean your systems cleanliness is good
Clearing up your system bugs usually speed up your internet experience. If your system isn't running
as efficiently as possible you'll be left behind.
11. What do Cookies do? Where are they?
**BE very careful when changing anything on your computer (I recommend asking a professional
before making any major changes to your PC)***.
Cookies are usually little spies that track your movements on the internet even though they're
usually safe, they do slow down your internet experience. Just be careful not to delete the cookies
you need to access some websites that require you to save the cookies on your computer.
How to view cookies on "E" Internet explorer 5.0 or 5.5?
Go to the top of your browser and click on button that say "Tools" and then click on
internet options. Then click on "settings". Then on click on "View Files" to
view all the cookies that are hiding in your computer. The View Objects link show Objects BUT DO NOT
DELETE THE OBJECTS because you use those. You can delete the cookies you don't use from the
"View Files" link if you recognize the dot com and you go to it on a regular basis.
Anyway, be very careful or as a friend who know.
